The training provides a detailed explanation of the machine and its functions which will be trained and communicated through classroom (theory) and practical (hands-on) training and with the regular evaluation techniques along with the interventions from various in class and on field activities. The intent of this program is to deliver a competent Boom Truck operator to the industry who has ample knowledge and confidence of driving a Boom Truck and ensures the utmost safety at work of himself/herself and of others in the working environment.
The trainees will observe our power point presentations of the material covered in the class and for their reference they will also utilize our training manual, for classroom reference. The training has been designed with an innovation solution to meet the needs of the students or trainees as per the industry standards aspirations, such as OSHA Trinidad, National Training Agency and other government regulation procedures and policies.
The training center and campus is equipped with state-of-the-art simulation equipments and adequate classroom lectures and onsite practical worksites/facilities to ensure that all our trainees/students are prepared to work safely and efficiently in the workplace. The center has designed this program under two levels of pre-requisites. However the duration and structure of the programme is determined by the experience a candidate has in the Boom Truck operations.
Design of the programme
The programme has been designed to provide an operator with the required competency to meet industry standards and set Boom Truck operations with job specific tasks. The programme is designed to cover the aspects of:
• OSHA Laws, Health and Safety
• Introduction to the types of Boom Truck
• Boom Truck components and factors affecting machine’s stability
• Safe machine setup and operations of equipment
• Appropriate hand signals and communication techniques at a workplace
• Safe procedures taken for shutdown, parking and refueling Boom Trucks
- The trainings will experience regular interventions from in-class activities and the practice assignments which will keep the pace consistent and will also help the trainees/students to feel engaged within the whole learning experience.
Evaluation
On completion of the respective programme, the trainee/student appears for a theory and a practical evaluation. Both the assessments are mandatory. An overall score of 75% has to be obtained to clear and receive the due certifications of Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ).
Accreditations - Caribbean Vocational Qualification
The training provided by the Trinidad Tower Cranes Services Inc. has been accredited and affiliated by the National Training Agency of Trinidad and Tobago. This skilled trades training on the successful completion will award a Caribbean Vocation Qualification certification to the trainee/student. This qualification will enable the certified trainee/student to work as a Boom Truck operator anywhere in the CARICOM nations as this certification will empower them to do so.
The National Training Agency (NTA) has developed the trainings to be delivered as per the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) competency standards. Trinidad Tower Cranes Services Inc. has been accredited by the NTA to conduct these trainings and award the certification on the successful completion to the trainees/students.

In order to awards the certifications the trainee is required to display the competencies that are categorized under the 8 mandatory units and one elective unit which is associated with Boom Truck operations. To be awarded this Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) all core competency standards must be achieved. Electives achieved with the qualification will be awarded unit statement of competency.
