Rigging & Rigging Hardware Training

Training will we able to explain and practice general rigging including wire rope, and block and tackle, formulas for safe working loads, and slings and chokers according to government safety regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations and specifications. Training will also explain the use of ladders, scaffolding and work platforms in accordance with government safety regulations, manufacturer’s recommendations and specifications and approved industry standards, to explain and perform the international standards of hand signals and describe audio communication signals for hoisting operations in accordance with relevant laws and regulations of Trinidad and Tobago.

The training will include:

• Hoisting and rigging hazards

• Fibre rope, knots, and hitches

• Hardware, wire rope, and slings

• Rigging tools and devices

• Hazard awareness in crane operations

The participants will be performing rigging by connecting loads and using proper hardware, also will be given them the opportunity to communicate with the operator by international hand signals and radio. These times are suggested only and can be flexible based on a number of factors including the program delivery format, participant knowledge, number of participants in the session and the venue for delivery.

Course Includes:

• Identify hitches, tag lines, chokers, slings and various knots

• Describe sling configurations, angles and safe working loads

• Demonstrate basic signals and procedures for lifting structural, panel, pipe and glass products

• Instruction on personal injury protection, receiving practices, and good housekeeping

• High voltage “Limits of Approach” and precautions

• Identify the different rigging hardware and other lifting devices

• Identify the care and maintenance of all rigging components

• Discuss the importance of regular inspections of all rigging hardware

• Identify the advantages and disadvantages of the various types of slings

• Identify different sling terminology and the uses for various configurations

• Identify and demonstrate capacities, angles and tension on slings

• Rigging formulas for calculating Work Load Limits, capacities, and tension of different sling applications

• Identify breaking strength and work load limits, determine load weights

• Discuss the nomenclature of the main types of cranes used in industry

• Discuss proper set up of mobile cranes

• Discuss the riggers and operators responsibilities when it comes to making a lift

• Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of some alternative lifting devices; chain hoists, come-a-longs and Tirfors
