Occupational Safety & Health Training

Occupational Health and Safety focuses on protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work, while fostering a safe work environment for the benefit of employees and the employer. Students will incorporate theory and practical awareness, and gain knowledge by applying the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) to the workplace. The curriculum in this Occupational Safety and Health Training Program is designed to provide students with a clear interpretation and discussion of the OHSA, and a review of related legislation.

Learning Objectives:

• Promote safe work practices

• Advise workplace parties on health and safety requirements

• Role and Importance of Joint Health and Safety Committees

• Interpret OSH Act and Regulations

• Conduct accident/incident investigations

• Return to work accommodations

• Deliver and coordinate occupational health and safety training

• Conduct ergonomic assessments

• Conduct occupational hygiene monitoring (asbestos, noise, chemicals, indoor air quality etc…)

• Investigate safety-related concerns

• Coordinate hazardous waste disposal

This course provides a wide range of professional and technical knowledge and expertise to achieve by promoting and supporting health and safety activities to all levels of the workplace to help supervisors and employees fulfill their obligations under the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations.

This program will provide you with a fundamental understanding of occupational Safety and Health. The program addresses the role and responsibilities of an occupational safety and health practitioner including:

• Risk management

• Hazard recognition, control, and prevention

• Safety management systems in the workplace

The program incorporates a multi-disciplinary approach in contributing to the development of a health and safety culture.
